poem performance reflection


In the video I realized there was a lot I needed to work on as far as fidgeting and memorazation. My strong points were eye contact and projecting my voice. Other performances were good and I liked the props and different things everyone did to fit the tone of there poem. As a class I think we should work on getting used to performing in front of each other.

Daylin Ms.Guarino IB Lit 3/4/20 The play Mamma Mia was performed on 2/29/20 in the black box theatre, directed by Ms.Guarino and the main characters Donna and Sophie were performed by Elena Parkerson and Audra Foti. This play was about a young girl the age of 20 named Sophie who was getting married to a guy named Sky. The day before her wedding she thinks to herself and wondered why she could’nt have her dad come she has never met her dad. It is about a family that's young who lives in Chicago and are struggling to afford things. They received money for insurance and they all have different ideas of what to spend it on. The mom wants to buy a house the son wants to invest in a liquor store.   He believes that the investment will solve the family’s financial problems forever. Walter’s wife, Ruth, agrees with Mama, however, and hopes that she and Walter can provide more space and opportunity for their son, Travis. Finally, Beneatha, Walter’s sister and Mama’s daughter, wants to use the money for her medical school tuition. She also wishes that her family members were not so interested in joining the white world. Beneatha instead tries to find her identity by looking back to the past and to Africa.

 The hardest part was memorizing but when I started it got easier and I started to remember my lines. The easiest part was after me saying the first line because it all came to me. How at the end we used 3 different languages that was interesting.
