What is type casting?

The given circumstances of a scene refers to the “who, where, what, when, why, and how” of the characters.

They are usually titles of articles or chapters.
 Why might a director ask actors to consider and/or invent a backstory for their characters?

So that the actor can really connect to his or her character they are portraying, because if you have a backstory and know everything about your character it will just make you that much better at acting them out.

What pace should actors generally use when speaking lines (except under special circumstances)? 

They should not speak faster than they do in a normal conversation, they should speak about 140-160 words a minute, in a normal conversation there is about 400 words said a second.

What is a common problem that inexperienced actors have regarding the pacing/tempo of lines? 

Inexperienced actors tend to be nervous and talk too fast for a scene.

How are costumes used in creating character? Use a specific example of a character you have seen and how costumes were used to communicate something about the role to the audience.

 What is blocking? Where should blocking get recorded (written down) while rehearsing?

Blocking is the precise staging of actors to facilitate the performance of a play, ballet, film or opera. Blocking gets written down in the script.  

Some plays require actors to contribute some original lines, often as filler. What is this called when actors put in original lines not written in their scripts?

Reaction is just as important as delivering lines. Why?

Because the reaction of somebody can talk for someone, because if somebody’s reaction is really good then the audience wont even need words to know what the actor is feeling so reaction is just as important as delivering words.

Musical Director is responsible for the overall music performance in the production especially the pit
Stage Manager is responsible for overseeing the physical aspects of the stage in a production
